Digger Hire with an Operator
tracked excavators, and the man on the sticks

Tracked excavators supplied across the North West with a ticketed operator. Clearance, grubbing out, grading, drainage and muck shifting — including the banks and soft ground that stop wheeled plant.

The machines

A digger is cheap. A wasted week is not.

Plenty of places will put a mini digger on a trailer for you. The reason clients ring us instead is that they do not really want a machine, they want an outcome: a site cleared, a bank taken back, root systems out, levels right, a ditch reopened or spoil moved and gone. That is a machine plus somebody who has done it a few hundred times, and the second half is where the time and money actually sit.

We run tracked excavators as our standard kit because of where our work happens. Embankments, river banks, woodland edges, waterlogged fields and reinstated ground are all normal for us, and tracks are the difference between working and sitting waiting for the ground to dry. Attachments matter too: buckets, breakers, augers, flail heads, tree shears and grabs all change what one machine can get through in a day.

Operators are CPCS or NPORS ticketed and insured, and we issue RAMS before we arrive. If you are a main contractor and you want the machine and operator working under your site instruction, to your permits and inductions, that is how a good share of our work already runs.

How we work

The right machine, not the nearest one

We size the machine to the job

A 1.5 tonne machine that fits through a gateway is useless if the job needs reach and grunt, and an 8 tonne machine is useless if it cannot get on site. We check access, ground and the actual task before committing to a size.

Tracked for soft ground

Banks, wet ground, river margins and reinstated surfaces are exactly where our work tends to be. Tracks spread the load, hold a gradient and stop the machine becoming the next problem on site.

Ticketed, insured operators

CPCS or NPORS as appropriate plus CSCS, full public liability cover and RAMS issued before we arrive. Happy to go through your induction and work to your permits.

Day rate or priced job

Straightforward work is a day rate with the operator included. Where there is a defined output — an area cleared, a bank taken back, levels achieved — we will price the job instead.

Questions

Digger Hire with Operator — frequently asked questions

Can I hire a digger without an operator?

On our own machines, sometimes. Dry hire is possible where the site is straightforward and your operator is competent and ticketed, and we will want to establish both before the machine leaves. Most clients take machine and operator, because once you add a driver, insurance and the risk of downtime the operated rate usually compares well.

What size machines do you have?

We run tracked excavators in the small to mid range, broadly from around 1.5 tonne up to 8 tonne, which covers most clearance, grubbing, drainage and reinstatement work. If your job genuinely needs something bigger or more specialist, we work with people who have it and will source it with a competent operator rather than turn you away.

Do you supply attachments?

Yes. Buckets to suit the work, plus breakers, augers, grabs, flail heads and tree shears depending on the job. Tell us what you are trying to achieve rather than which attachment you think you need, and we will bring the right combination.

Can the machine get onto soft ground or a bank?

Usually, which is the main reason people call us. Tracked machines work embankments, river banks, woodland edges and waterlogged ground where wheeled plant cannot go. We still check access and ground conditions first, because there are limits and it is better to find them before the low loader is booked.

Can you take on the whole job rather than just supply the machine?

Yes, and often that is cheaper. We are a land clearance and grounds contractor, so we can price the finished result — site cleared, stumps out, levels achieved, arisings gone — rather than a machine on a day rate. See our land clearance, scrub clearance and ditch clearance pages.

What does it cost?

It depends on machine size, whether an operator is included, duration and location. We price against the job rather than publish a rate card. Call 01772 343285 or request a free site survey.

Which areas do you cover?

Right across the North West of England — Blackpool and the Fylde, Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn and wider Lancashire, plus Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. For larger contracts we travel further.
